I'm proud to support legislation that would allow the immediate family of active duty members of the Armed Forces to put these special Blue Star Banner license plates on their vehicles. This would be a meaningful way to honor those who risk their lives to protect our freedoms and the family members who make great sacrifices while their loved ones are on the front lines.

The legislation is House Bill 5872.

Almost 80 people attended the Truancy in Chicago Public Schools Task Force hearing Sen. Collins hosted last Monday. Thank you to all who came and testified about the challenges facing our youth and how to keep them in class and off the streets.

The task force will release its findings and recommendations by July 1.
