Beginning May 19, a 10-mile stretch of the Red Line will be closed from the Cermak/Chinatown stop to the 95th/Dan Ryan stop. The CTA will reconstruct tracks and improve stations along this segment of track. All Red Line South stations will be made accessible to persons with disabilities, and many will receive new canopies, lighting upgrades, new benches and/or bike racks. The restoration project, which will create hundreds of jobs and result in faster, more comfortable rides, is slated for completion in October.
